Iâm Jake, founder and CEO of Cinderblock Tv, the video streaming app; built for music. More on that later.

Barry â€ïžs Sabrina
Sabrina Carpenter's music video for âPlease Please Pleaseâ dropped last Thursday, starring rumored beau Barry Keoghan. Directed by Bardia Zeinali, it follows Keoghan's bad boy life with Carpenter by his side. The essence of the video can be summed up by Tiktokâs favorite lyrics âHeartbreak is one thing, my ego is another, I beg you, donât embarrass me, mother****er.â Produced by Jack Antonoff, it's a taste of her upcoming album, Short n Sweet, out August 23. At least Barry wasnât drinking bathwater in this video.. iykyk.

Whatâs Going On In Music World
@acid_farts
đš Donât bring that smoke into the âSphereâ, says Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp, after banning and then unbanning a man who posted on instagram âFirst bong hit to ever be ripped in the @spherevegas @phishâ along with a video of the incident. He was sent a letter from the company stating they had seen the viral video and that if he ever entered another MSG venue âlaw enforcement will be contacted to ensure your expulsionâ they reversed that decision after some hilarious backlash. Lesson learned I guess?
đ” Music streaming prices are changing, again. Spotify is getting most of the heat recently for their price hikes; specifically doing it twice in a short amount of time.. now from $10.99/mo to $11.99/mo for their individual plan. The less scrutinized music companies have also been shifting: Pandora from $9.99/mo to $10.99/mo and Twitch from $4.99/mo to $5.99/mo. Probably because youâre numb to it but Apple and Amazon music also increased by $1/mo last year. The only possible hero recently is Tidal who actually lowered their pricing from $19.99/mo to $10.99/mo by combining different tiers of subscriptions. Just in case you were wondering⊠the Cinderblock TV streaming app is $0/mo to watch music content.
DID YOU MISS IT?
Alright Alright Alright
đ± Country artist Zach Bryan's music video, "Nine Ball," features Matthew McConaughey in a lead role, adding star power to Zachâs already massive song. Bryan posted about McConaughey, saying, "thank you for being so kind and open-hearted these past few days... youâll always have a friend in me and for once it was an honor to meet a hero." Set in an Austin bar, the video beautifully captures family drama and the huge stakes in a small town pool hall. The video originally came out Feb 5, 2024.

BUILDING IN PUBLIC
Message from me, Jake
Iâm going to end each one of these newsletters with an update about Cinderblock and what we are up to. To be honest, itâs a little weird openly talking about what is going on in the background while we grow the company. So anyway⊠here it goes!
Itâs been a little over a year since we launched our streaming apps on iOS, Apple TV, and web browsers. Weâre seeing a little over 10,000 people watching every month! It feels great but our video library could definitely be bigger. We currently are working with over 1000 amazing artists but our EOY 2024 goal is 2000+.
While we produce a lot of original content for the platform working directly with artists, we also host a significant amount of music videos and concerts directly from artist teams. So if you or someone you know wants to join the Cinderblock artist community and create a profile, please reply to this email. My inbox is always open!
